Why NEADS by Sabrina:
I am so excited to be representing NEADS at this year’s Boston Marathon! Since that tragic day four years ago, the Boston Marathon has taken on a new meaning for me. It will always be a day of mourning, remembering those we lost. But more recently it has become a day of reflection, gratitude, and motivation, a day of giving back and paying it forward.
To do this, I want to help a charity that motivates me to get out of bed every Saturday morning to run in 20 degrees! When I heard what NEADS does I said “wait…they train Service Dogs? For the disabled? DONE!” Since April 15th, 2013, I have developed a tremendous amount of respect for Service Dogs and the people that require their assistance.. I have witnessed firsthand how a disability can break someone down to the point where they don’t want to get back up. NEADS World Class Service Dogs lift people up. They restore their sense of independence and provide unconditional companionship to people that genuinely need it.
So I am here to ask for your donation. Help me help NEADS to continue to provide the socialization and training for such amazing animals and amazing people. Thank you!
Why NEADS by Julie:
I am so proud to be representing NEADS in the 2017 Boston Marathon. Growing up just outside of Boston, I have always had a love for the city. The marathon shines a bright spotlight on the city and its people and given the opportunity to participate in the marathon and I didn’t think twice about it.
After the attack in 2013, I was devastated but also filled with pride. The people of Boston gave back with a tremendous sense of purpose. I feel that working with a World Class Service Dog organization, like NEADS, is a great way to give back to a city that’s given so much to me.
