"College can be expensive. In the modern world, many college students can expect to incur tens of thousands of dollars of debt to complete their degree, saddling them with debt that could persist for decades. Given this reality, cost was one of the biggest concerns I had prior to entering university, particularly since I was applying during the COVID-19 recession. At this time, my father was retiring from the military, so my family's financial future was even more uncertain.

However, the Dolphin Scholarship, complementing my university's financial aid, has helped me overcome these concerns by granting me a debt-free education. More and more, I've come to appreciate the value of this freedom, afforded to me by the Dolphin Scholarship. With the time freed up from my lack of debt, I've taken multiple graduate classes, became the president of my school's mathematics club, and have become an editor-in-chief of my school's undergraduate research journal. Furthermore, after university, I am in a better position to afford living expenses associated with future jobs or graduate school positions, one of the many things I am grateful for in life.

Currently, I am majoring in mathematics and computer science at my university, My hope is to enter a PhD program in mathematics after completing my undergraduate degree, specializing in functional analysis, optimization, or game theory (I'm still exploring those options). After this, I hope to perform research with the defense industry, employing my skills to help improve the efficacy of our nation's armed forces."
